I can’t think of a better way to nourish, celebrate and replenish than reserving a few days away to immerse yourself in sewing, good food and the beautiful natural landscapes of cape cod. Add new or old friends into the mix and life just doesn’t get much better.
The sewing theme for this year’s retreat is All Things Cozy! Choose from one of the suggested patterns and get ready to wrap yourself in timeless and ultimate comfort.
Basic sewing knowledge is helpful, but I welcome beginners who are eager to learn!
Patterns:
The Pace cardigan by Daughter Judy Patterns is an oversized cardigan that’s made for layering. Relaxed, a little slouchy and the right amount of cocoon. Featuring on-seam pocket and a subtle back neck v.
The Jackson hoodie by Helen’s Closet is classic pullover hoodie or cute hooded tee! This pattern includes a lined hood and an optional kangaroo pocket. The hood overlaps slightly at the center front and it includes a hood inset.
The Toaster sweater by Sew House Seven is the perfect cozy pullover for these cooler temperatures! This pattern has the perfect high neck top designed to keep you toasty warm and stylish in the cooler months. I often make this top without the waist and arm bands for a completely different and oh-so-comfy and chic look.
Lodging and Food:
Our retreat will take place in the scenic and peaceful town of Wellfleet in Cape Cod, MA. Largely protected from development, Wellfleet remains an oasis of maritime beauty. The modest and cozy house is nicely tucked in the woods and offers both privacy and close proximity to bay side beaches. Simple and nutritious meals and snacks will be provided for all meals except Sunday dinner when we will celebrate our work by exploring one of the local restaurant options in Wellfleet, Truro or Provincetown.
Dates and Schedule:
Friday, October 31st
Arrive and settle in. You are welcome anytime after 5pm. Dinner will be available upon your arrival if you arrive before 8pm.
Saturday, November 1st:
Note: This schedule is subject to flexibility
8:00-10:00 - Breakfast, coffee/Tea, time to explore or sleep in as you see fit!
10:00-12:00 Morning sewing
12:30-1:30 - Lunch
1:30-3:00 - Free time. There is a wealth of places to explore right at our doorstep
3:00-5:00- Afternoon sewing
6:00- Dinner
Evenings will be spent how you wish. I personally love relaxed evenings spent in good company, and I especially love the company of individuals I’ve spent the day sewing with! But this could be a time for a solo escape if that feels more nourishing to you.
