Class times:
Tuesday’s 1-3
May 13th and 20th
This class is suitable for all levels. If you don’t have any sewing experience at all, please complete the Intro to Sewing class prior to the start of this class.
The Revel Topper is a quick and satisfying make but don't let that fool you. The simple design offers some unique design features. The Revel pairs well with high waist pants and skirts and looks great as a short top but is also just long enough to tuck into a high to mid-rise bottom.
All versions feature a cut-on shawl collar and yoke-like collar facing. The collar facing can be attached from the inside or outside of the front allowing for either a more concealed construction or a purposeful yoke with the opportunity for color blocking, pattern mixing, embroidery, etc.
Version A of the Topper is sleeveless and semi-cropped. Although it features bust darts, the fit is fairly loose through the bust and waist and the sleeveless armholes fall off the shoulders and become cut-on short sleeves. The sleeves also have deep facings that are stitched down.
Version B is the same cut and fit as version A, although it has a slightly longer and narrower cut-on sleeve with a wide cuff that lands just above the elbow.
Version C is a modified poncho with wide, bracelet length sleeves. This version is very loose and does not have darts.
Supplies:
Fabric: The Revel Topper was designed for fluid, less structured woven fabrics with drape so that the sleeves hang properly. Less structured fabrics usually have some natural give to them, allowing for a smoother construction of the shawl collar at the high shoulder point/corner while more tightly woven rigid fabrics have a more difficult time making the neck corner. Suggested fabrics are light to medium weight linen, linen/viscose blends, Ecovero challis, or even a silk charmeuse.
There are several options available for purchase in the studio.
Notions:.
