This relaxed, hands-on class is designed for complete beginners who would like to learn how to use a sewing machine while making something useful along the way.
We’ll start by getting familiar with the sewing machine, including threading, winding and inserting a bobbin, choosing stitches, and learning how to control your fabric as you sew. You’ll have plenty of time to practice and get comfortable before moving on to your project.
Once you’re ready, you’ll make a simple lined zippered pouch. Along the way, you’ll learn about seam allowances, pressing, topstitching, and inserting a zipper. The pouch is a small, approachable project that gives you the opportunity to practice the basics while learning a new technique.
The goal is not perfection—it’s to give you a chance to experiment, ask questions, and leave feeling much more confident about sitting down at a sewing machine on your own.
All fabric, thread, and project supplies are included in the cost of this class.
Studio sewing machines are provided.
