This class is designed for adults who would like to build confidence sewing wearable garments while creating a dress or jumpsuit they’ll love wearing.
Dresses and jumpsuits are wonderfully satisfying garments to sew because they allow you to explore shape, fit, construction, and finishing while creating a complete outfit in a single project. In this class, you’ll choose from a curated selection of patterns ranging from relaxed everyday dresses to more structured and versatile jumpsuits.
You’ll choose from:
Hinterland Dress by Sew Liberated — a comfortable, versatile dress with a relaxed fit and thoughtful details. With multiple options for neckline, sleeves, and skirt, the Hinterland can be customized to create anything from an easy everyday dress to a more polished wardrobe staple.
Homme Dress & Jumpsuit by Elbe Textiles — a modern, minimal design with a relaxed silhouette and distinctive wrap construction. The pattern offers both dress and jumpsuit options, making it a particularly versatile choice for students looking for a garment that can be dressed up or down.
Amy Jumpsuit by Closet Core Patterns — a comfortable and stylish jumpsuit with a relaxed fit and thoughtful details. A great choice for students who want to try a jumpsuit while building skills in garment construction, fitting, and finishing.
Dew Dress by Friday Pattern Company — an easy-to-wear dress with a relaxed, contemporary shape. Its simple silhouette makes it a great canvas for beautiful fabrics while providing plenty of opportunities to personalize the finished garment.
Each of these patterns offers a different silhouette and approach to garment construction, allowing you to choose a project that fits your personal style and wardrobe.
Not quite seeing yourself in these patterns? If you’d like to join the class but none of the options feel quite right for your style, please reach out! I’m happy to help you find another pattern that fits the theme and will work well for the class.
Supplies:
Fabric:
Fabric requirements will vary depending on your chosen pattern, size, and garment option. Most of the patterns in this class are designed for woven fabrics. Suggested fabrics include linen, cotton, rayon/viscose, Tencel, lightweight denim, chambray, and other woven fabrics with appropriate drape and structure.
The Dew Dress is designed specifically for knit fabrics and requires a fabric with good stretch and recovery. Students choosing the Dew should plan to use an appropriate knit fabric rather than a woven.
I keep a small curated selection of fabrics available in the studio for students who would like to purchase materials here, but students are also welcome to source their own fabric. I’m always happy to help with fabric selection and guide you toward an appropriate fabric for your chosen pattern.

Notions are available for purchase in the studio.
Please note:
Studio sewing machines are provided
Pattern purchase and printing are included in the cost of the class
Fabric should be washed prior to the first day of class
Students will select their pattern prior to the start of class so materials can be prepared in advance
Because these are larger garments, students should plan to arrive at the first class with their pattern selected and fabric prepared so that we can make the most of our class time.
