This class is designed for young students who are new to sewing and ready to learn the basics of working with a sewing machine.
We’ll learn the fundamentals of sewing through a variety of fun, age-appropriate projects, building skills and confidence along the way. Students will learn how to safely use the sewing machine, understand basic sewing terminology, work with fabric, follow simple patterns and instructions, and complete projects from beginning to end.
The curriculum will focus on seasonal, age-appropriate clothing that is comfortable to wear and easy to move and play in. We’ll also incorporate some simple bags and accessories throughout the year, with plenty of room for creativity and self-expression.
Tuition is $325 per 6-week session and includes materials for class projects.
This is an ongoing class, but there is no required year-long commitment. Students may continue from one 6-week session to the next, or choose not to continue at the end of a session.
Confidence using a sewing machine
An understanding of basic sewing skills and terminology
Experience following simple patterns and instructions
Growing independence in the sewing studio
Finished projects they can be proud of
Studio sewing machines are provided.
Materials for class projects are included in the tuition.
